Since 2001 the International conference on Robust Statistics (ICORS) has brought researchers and practitioners interested in robust statistics, data analysis and related areas together. This includes theoretical and applied statisticians and also data analysts from other fields. As the ICORS Conference is being held for the first time in Australia, it shall bring a large number of world-leaders in robust statistics to Wollongong. The ICORS meetings create a forum to discuss recent progress and emerging ideas in statistics and encourage informal contacts and discussions among all the participants. They also play an important role in maintaining a cohesive group of international researchers interested in robust statistics and related topics, whose interactions transcend the meetings and endure year round. For the first time also in the history of ICORS, the scientific committee decided, together with the all Australian organising committee, to include two international female keynote speakers.
