Mathematics of Metamaterials

Metamaterials are engineered structures that achieve responses not possible with conventional materials. They are the basis of many potentially transformative technological advances. The design of metamaterials poses significant mathematical challenges, due to their multiscale physical properties and their resonant microstructures. The MATRIX workshop is a major opportunity for the rapidly growing community of Australian researchers working on metamaterials to interact with senior and emerging experts from the international community at the cutting edge of the mathematics of metamaterials. Participants have been secured from major international research groups in the UK, Europe and USA, who will be able to share the latest trends in the mathematics of metamaterials, and provide advice on interdisciplinary collaborations and interacting with industry.
