Description

The workshop will bring together Australian number theorists to share ideas and to discuss current work. It will cover wide areas within number theory and expose early career researchers (ECRs) and graduate students to current research topics. The specific focus of the workshop is to explore the interactions between Diophantine approximation, transcendence theory and analytical computations.

Speakers

Prof. Wadim Zudilin (Newcastle, Australia). A world-class expert in number theory and its applications.
• Prof. Richard Brent, FAA (ANU & Newcastle, Australia). Prof Brent is renowned for his expertise in computational number theory and analysis of algorithms.
• Prof. Igor Shparlinski, FAA (UNSW, Australia). A prolific researcher who is expert in exponential and character sums, and their applications to cryptography.
• A/Prof. Simon Kristensen (Aarhus, Denmark). An expert in analytical number theory, especially metric Diophantine approximation. He is the head of the Analysis group at Aarhus University, Denmark, an institution with which we hope to extend collaboration.
• Dr. Dzmitry Badziahin (Durham, UK). Renowned expert in metric Diophantine approximation who has recently settled long standing conjectures of W. M. Schmidt and H. Davenport.
• Dr. David Harvey (UNSW, Australia). An ARC DECRA awardee with expertise in computational number theory, arithmetic geometry, and polynomial and integer arithmetic.
• Dr. Timothy Trudgian (ANU, Australia). An ARC DECRA awardee with expertise in analytic number theory and explicit computations.
• Dr. Michael Coons (Newcastle, Australia). An ARC DECRA awardee having expertise in Diophantine approximation and transcendence theory.
• Dr. Judy-anne Osborn (Newcastle, Australia). Australian based ECR working in the intersection of combinatorics and number theory.
• Dr. Alina Ostafe (UNSW, Australia). Visiting postdoctoral ECR working with renowned number theorist Prof. Igor Shparlinski.
• Dr. Min Sha (UNSW, Australia). Visiting postdoctoral ECR working with renowned number theorist Prof. Igor Shparlinski.
• Dr. Shi Bai (University of Auckland, New Zealand). Former student of Prof. Richard Brent and postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Auckland. Possesses expertise in computational number theory.
• Dr. Alex Ghitza(Melbourne, Australia). Renowned expert in arithmetic algebraic geometry and algebraic number theory.
