Event Details
- Dates: 9 February 2026 - 13 February 2026
- Venue: Sydney Mathematical Research Institute (SMRI), the University of Sydney
- Categories: Scientific Workshop
Description:
The past few years have witnessed important progress in our understanding of the geometry of algebraic varieties. This workshop will aim at gathering experts at an international scale on very active areas of research: birational geometry in positive and mixed characteristic and moduli theory of Fano varieties through K-stability. The program’s main goal is to promote discussion and collaboration on these increasingly specialised and yet deeply interconnected branches of the field. The proposed workshop will be held at The University of Sydney / SMRI, where the three international organisers, Cascini (Imperial), Cheltsov (Edinburgh) and Shinder (Sheffield) will be visiting for a month as SMRI International Visiting Researchers.
This Research Program is partially supported by AMSI and AustMS through the AMSI-AustMS Workshop Funding program, and benefits from the SMRI International Visitor Program.
