Lifelong contributions to society through mathematics, statistics and the sciences have been recognised and celebrated through this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
Recipients of Order of Australia honours include:
Dr Catherine Foley AO PSM
Dr Foley, currently Chief Scientist at the CSIRO, is made an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to research science, to the advancement of women in physics, and to professional scientific organisations.
Professor Kaye Basford AM
Professor Basford of the University of Queensland is made a Member of the Order of Australia for her significant service to tertiary education, biomedical sciences and scientific academies. As Head of School of Biomedical Sciences, Professor Basford is one of Australia’s leading statisticians and biometricians, applying her statistical methods to plant genetics.
Dr Rosemary Callingham AM
Dr Callingham from Launceston in Tasmania is made a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to mathematics education, teacher development and to her community.
Ms Carolyn Moule OAM
The late Carolyn Moule of Adelaide is posthumously awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to education, and to mathematics.
