AMSI is looking forward to a new future in 2021. It is working well with its members and stakeholders to propel its mission to champion mathematical sciences for Australia’s advancement.
For personal reasons, AMSI Director, Professor Tim Brown, has given notice of his resignation at the end of October this year, giving time for a new leadership to be in place for 2021.
“It is with sadness and a heavy heart that I recently came to the conclusion that I can’t be Director in 2021″, announced Professor Brown. “On the other hand, I’m looking forward to working hard to secure the future in 2021 for the next six months and am confident that AMSI members, Board and staff will have great success before and after the transition.”
AMSI Board Chair, Dr Adelle Howse paid tribute to Professor Brown’s work championing the mathematical sciences and reinforced the continuity ensured by the managed transition now under way.
“On behalf of the Board I would like to thank Professor Tim Brown for his dedication and perseverance in leading AMSI so far”, Dr Howse said. “Tim has worked relentlessly to connect with our members and to build relationships with our key stakeholders and staff at a very challenging time for the Institute. We look forward to Tim’s ongoing leadership as we transition AMSI over the next six months to new leadership to sustain the AMSI mission. A process to recruit a new director will commence in the near future.”
