The Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI) today announced the rebrand of its long-running honours and masters collaborative online teaching initiative, formerly the AMSI ACE Network, as AMSI Online: Honours and Masters.

Established in 2006, the program has given students across Australia access to advanced mathematical sciences subjects taught by leading lecturers at AMSI Member Universities. Delivered online across two semesters, the program connects a motivated national cohort of students to subjects that may not otherwise be available at their home institutions, strengthening postgraduate training in the mathematics, statistics, data science and related disciplines.

Alongside this change, AMSI has also rebranded its undergraduate online learning program as AMSI Online: Third Year, which provides students access to specialised mathematical sciences subjects at the undergraduate level.

AMSI Director, Professor Tim Marchant said the rebrand reflects the program’s enduring value and its future role in strengthening advanced training.

“For two decades, the AMSI ACE program has connected students with expertise and opportunities beyond their home universities. The transition to AMSI Online represents a renewed commitment to supporting advanced learning, collaboration and national capability in the mathematical sciences,” Professor Marchant said.

Call for 2026  Subject Proposals

AMSI is now inviting proposals from experienced lecturers who enjoy hybrid teaching for honours and masters level subjects to be offered in 2026.  Subject proposals are welcomed across pure mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, data science, and related fields.

This is a unique chance to engage with a broad cohort of motivated honours, masters and PhD students, and early-career researchers and contribute to mathematics education on a national scale.

As a lecturer, you’ll play a key role in expanding students’ knowledge and shaping their academic journey. Successful candidates will receive an increased $2,000 payment per approved subject, contingent on post-census enrolments.
