The AMSI Foundation is excited to announce the Praeger-Henstridge Awards to strengthen participation in the mathematical sciences in Australia.
The Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI), in collaboration with the Australian Mathematical Society (AustMS) and the Statistical Society of Australia (SSA), will deliver the awards on an annual basis, commencing in 2025.
This initiative is made possible through the generous gift of Professor Cheryl Praeger and Dr John Henstridge, and is designed to leave a lasting impact by fostering greater participation from women and young people in mathematics and statistics. The goal is an enduring awards program starting in 2025, reflecting the donors and the mathematical sciences ecosystem’s dedication to inclusivity and excellence.
Founding donors Cheryl Praeger and John Henstridge — distinguished leaders in mathematics and statistics — have dedicated their careers to advancing mathematical sciences. Their vision for the awards stems from a deep commitment to breaking down barriers and opening doors for diverse voices in mathematics. Their founding donation sets the stage for a bright and inclusive future in the mathematical sciences.
The perpetual awards will create a lasting positive impact and we invite others to join Cheryl and John by adding your donation to the Praeger-Henstridge Fund. Awards and prizes can be made in your name, or the name of someone special to you. You will also be invited to attend the inaugural awards night for donors and recipients, to be held in 2025.
Your donation to the AMSI Foundation is tax deductible and an effective way to ensure your contribution is directed to supporting the development of critical skills that are foundational across STEM, and fundamental to Australia’s future.
By supporting the Praeger-Henstridge Awards, you are playing a crucial role in shaping the future of mathematical sciences and encouraging participation in mathematics and statistics for generations to come.
You can donate to the Praeger-Henstridge Awards and prizes through the AMSI Foundation donation portal. All donations of $2 or more to the AMSI Foundation Praeger-Henstridge Awards and prizes are tax-deductible. This means that when you contribute to this awards fund, you can claim a tax deduction for your donation on your income tax return.
