AMSI Appoints New Chief Operating Officer
The Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI) has announced the appointment of Lisa Farrar as its Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Lisa has been Acting co-COO since December 2020. She is also the National Program Manager of AMSI’s industry arm, Australian Postgraduate Research Intern (APR.Intern) and will continue in a dual role.
As COO, Lisa will oversee AMSI’s core strategic and operational initiatives across the Institute, including engagement with major internal and external stakeholders, in support of AMSI’s vision and mission for the mathematical sciences.
Lisa brings 25 years of valuable leadership experience to the role, having worked across not-for-profit, higher education and government sectors. Prior to AMSI and APR.Intern, Lisa held senior management positions at Monash University and La Trobe University and was CEO of the OTIS Foundation.
“We are very pleased to welcome Lisa as COO. Lisa has already demonstrated leadership and success as National Program Manager for APR.Intern, and we look forward to having her expertise extended more broadly across the entire Institute,” said AMSI Director, Professor Tim Marchant.
“I am delighted to take on this role during an exciting time for AMSI. The mathematical sciences are vital for Australia’s future productivity, and I look forward to working with AMSI, its membership and stakeholders to further strengthen the mathematical sciences pipeline and deepen AMSI’s impact as the national voice for the mathematical sciences,” said Lisa.
Lisa holds a Senior Executive MBA from Melbourne Business School, a Bachelor of Business and qualifications from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
