APR.Intern Recognised for Outstanding Excellence
The Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI) is proud to announce its industry arm, Australian Postgraduate Research Intern (APR.Intern), has been awarded for Professional Excellence and Innovation in the University of Melbourne Excellence Awards 2021.
The Award for Professional Excellence and Innovation recognises academic and professional staff who have demonstrated outstanding service, vision, teamwork and service to the community.
As the only national all-sector all-discipline PhD internship program, APR.Intern has developed a unique internship model that drives industry-university collaboration across the country. Under the Federal Government’s National Research Internships Program (NRIP) grant, the team has facilitated 633 PhD student internships and established a growing national network of 337 industry partners and 35 participating universities – all while maintaining a 99% program satisfaction rate.
AMSI Director, Professor Tim Marchant, said the award reflected the team’s incredible impact on research translation.
“APR.Intern has been a pioneer in bridging the gap between industry and academia at a national level. We are proud to see this AMSI initiative acknowledged by our lead agent, the University of Melbourne”, Professor Marchant added.
APR.Intern National Program Manager, Lisa Farrar, said, “This award recognises the team’s fantastic effort and dedication. To successfully deliver this program in a complex environment, while maintaining an incredibly high satisfaction rate is truly unique. The quality systems, processes and expertise in the program have set the standard and are used as an example of best practice.”
AMSI congratulates all members of the APR.Intern team, past and present.
