I hope you’ve done your homework, because we’re going back to school, and our first class is maths.
A study from the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute shows that in recent years there’s not only been a huge drop off in students taking math, but also teachers teaching it.
So why do we give Maths such a hard time?
In school you’ll often hear students lament about how they’ll never use maths later in life…is this true? Or are they just trying to get out of doing the homework?
Professor Rob McDougall is a known lover of mathematics and hails from the University of the Sunshine Coast, he spoke about why maths is on the decline and what we can do to bring it back again.
