Description

The Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI) has expanded its schools outreach program, creating the opportunity for 8 Project Officers to join AMSI Schools. We are looking for experienced Primary and Secondary teachers with solid mathematics knowledge, a strong track record in leading teams of teachers through a program of mathematics professional development and experience in content creation for mathematics. The Secondary teachers must have a degree in mathematics, or a science degree with a substantial mathematics component as well as teaching qualifications.

In this role you will be working closely with groups of teachers to assist them in the development of their maths program across clusters of schools in regional areas. Our ideal candidate will work independently to deliver the program and make a quality contribution to the AMSI team. The position involves a considerable amount of interstate and country travel.

The AMSI head office is located at The University of Melbourne and the incumbent will be required to attend meetings at head office on a regular basis. There is some scope for the incumbent to be based outside of Melbourne, close to one of the nodes for outreach work which are yet to be determined.

You will work with a small, friendly and dedicated team of academic and administrative staff. This varied role will utilise your diverse skills, with the ability to contribute to the strategic direction of the program.

AMSI is a partnership of 35 of Australia’s universities and government agencies. The University of Melbourne hosts AMSI at its Parkville campus, with excellent proximity to the Melbourne CBD and public transport.

You will have access to amenities available to staff at The University of Melbourne, including car parking, gym facilities, library, health and wellbeing services. Further information about working at The University of Melbourne is available at www.hr.unimelb.edu.au/careers.

There are eight positions available. If this sounds like the role for you, please submit your application by the closing date addressing the selection criteria in the position description.
